New Design Process

Traditional vs. R.Design

Traditional Archiviz Design Process

Still CG Images By CG studios

In the traditional production process, a project typically takes about 1-2 weeks to complete.  Multiple CG images are generated and delivered using the local assets and dedicated rendering machines within the CG studio’s PC.

Features:

  • CG Still Images: Both final deliverables and inspections are conducted entirely with still images. This approach has the following implications:
    • To generate photorealistic CG images, rendering each image takes over an hour.
    • Once rendered, images cannot be edited.
    • Data linkage with assets is lost after rendering.
    • Each rendering incurs a cost since it uses the CG studio’s rendering machines.
  • Local Production on CG Artist’s PC: All 3D models and assets are stored on the CG artist’s PC. Even if project-specific 3D assets are created at the client’s expense, these assets are usually not delivered to the client and are not reused in the future.
  • Pricing: Charges are based on the number of CG still images generated. The base price is set high to cover the cost of preparing all 3D models, with additional charges for each extra CG cut.

Advantages:

  • Inspections and final deliveries are done using CG still images, requiring no special devices for the client.

Disadvantages:

  • Low Flexibility: Generating photorealistic CG images takes over an hour per image. Usually, only 1-2 revisions are provided for free, requiring careful decision-making for final rendering camera cuts.
  • High Cost: Requesting multiple renderings can lead to high total costs due to cumulative rendering charges.

New Design Process

By R.Design

R.Design’s design process uses an application that allows real-time simulation and high-resolution CG rendering. By reusing 3D assets, it offers a cost-effective and efficient solution.

Features:

  • R.Design App: Utilizing an app that enables photorealistic expression through real-time rendering, clients can load and simulate their home at any time. To use the R.Design app, users must download it for free and install it on their PC.
  • Self-rendering: Anyone can perform high-resolution CG rendering on a PC with the R.Design app installed.

Advantages:

  • Flexibility: Users can edit spatial scenes themselves and render high-resolution CG images without additional costs.
  • Significant Improvement in Spatial Design Productivity: Users can style their space while previewing the final finish in a photorealistic 3D environment.
  • Asset Reuse: Previously created assets can be catalogued and reused anytime.
  • R.Design Productivity Tools: Various productivity tools like custom item registration and personal catalogues enhance the design process.
  • Cost Reduction: The only cost is the initial investment in 3D model production. Using R.Design’s CG rendering feature incurs no additional rendering costs.

Disadvantages:

  • A PC with a dedicated GPU is required to run the R.Design app smoothly.
