Produce The Highest Quality 3D Models Of All Interior Products Including Furniture And Lighting

R.Design’s CG Artists create 3D models of various interior items, including furniture, light fixtures, decor, and more.

The client shares how much detail they want the CG team to go into while designing each product along with their brand specifications. The team, in turn, responds to their demands and comes up with an exact model that has been designed as per their parameters.

Support For Next Generation Softwares

Balance Between Data Size & Quality

The main purpose of any 3D rendering software is to get your model to play an active role in more apps.

The Old High Polygon Model

Until now, most of the interior products modeled in 3D softwares were produced for the purpose of creating still images – especially with architectural and interior perspectives.

What happened with that was, these softwares calculated the light with a powerful computer that was specifically dedicated to rendering and generating a still image. This resulted in a model that contained a huge number of polygons, but the still image we got from it was quite realistic.

However, these ultra-high polygon models are simply not viable for the next generation of applications. That’s because if the file size of these models becomes too big, it will increase he download time for the user while simultaneously taking up all of the disk space on their PC.

Balanced Polygon Model of R.Design

Now, while R.Design’s CG team was previously consumed with creating high-precision High-Polygon models for each item (along with Low-Polygon models for game engines), it was quite a painstaking measure to make the whole model move smoothly within the app.

However, due to a major technological innovation in 2021, the division between High-Polygon and Low-Polygon models has become less distinct and meaningful. So what happened was, Unreal Engine 5 adopted the Nanite technology, which ultimately made the operability of high-precision High-Polygon models quite seamless.

So, based on this advancement, we stopped producing Low-Polygon models and shifted our focus entirely on high-precision High-Polygon models (unless otherwise requested by clients).

The problem with that? The increased number of Polygons might make the file size too large. This might create many problems in an app environment with an unspecified number of users and download numbers. Not only will it increase the download time but also make the network become unstable. Ultimately, you won’t be able to use that app.

Therefore, it’s quite important to have a perfect balance between the number of Polygons and the file size.

Supports Various File Formats

The R.Design 3D model is only delivered after it has been converted into a specific file format which makes it compatible with various software.

Attention to Detail

Expression of Material

It’s quite necessary to know even the most minute details of how wood looks (e.g. grain, color, texture, etc.) in order to make it look more realistic with CG.

Since R.Design’s modeling is based on the CG artists commitment to realism (and we’re well acquainted with each furniture brand’s own 3D team), we promptly understand how they want to articulate their product in this format and help them achieve the kind of material specifications that they want in every single 3D.

Stitch

Low-Polygon modeling may have delivered crisp movements on the software, but it certainly skimped on the elaborate detailing.

However, in high-quality applications, the user may zoom in on the target item to check the unevenness of the material. So, for us, it’s important to reflect the brand’s particular specifications as much as possible while making a 3D for them.

From something as simple as a seam to detailed overtures like turned legs, etc. we strive to reproduce every item as realistically as possible in R.Design.

Scanning the Actual Material With a 3D Scanner

No one can duplicate the actual texture of a particular material as it varies greatly depending on the specifications.

So, in order to express everything as genuinely as possible in R.Design, we read the actual material sample with a dedicated 3D scanner and create a layer that highlights the texture and uneveness of that material as accurately as possible in the 3D model.

R.Design’s Tokyo Showroom is equipped with a dedicated 3D scanner, so please contect us if you would like to have your materials scanned.

Case 1

3D Model of a Simple Chair

  • 作Working Time: 5 hours
  • Amount: $187 USD

The R.Design CG Team produced two chair designs – one with an arm and one without.

There was no texture reproduction for the fabric and the default material was applied for the end look.

Case 2

3D Model of a Sofa

  • Working Time: 8 hours
  • Amount: $300 USD

3 meshes were created in the software, as the sofa needed to be modeled in 3 different sizes.

As for fabrics, this manufacturer had a separate fabric collection and an online texture database for each one. Therefore, there was no new texture creation.

Case 3

Converting an Existing 3D Model

  • Working Time: 2 hours
  • Amount: $75 USD

The original FBX file had around 160k Polygons, and was converted to a model of about 30k.
